Best case scenario - customers grew faster than they expected, and they are running into bandwidth limits at the data centers they are using. Although at ramnode, it is a simple matter of upping your limit for more $$$. Maybe their provider is not as accomodating. A broken data center starting to work again after a month would support this optimistic theory.
