But what does parental lineage have to do with religious faith? Based on the religious scripture (Old Testament / Torah) Abraham went to Egypt and accepted the Covenant. The Covenant was passed by the father blessing the son (Jacob a/k/a Israel) and so on. It was a blessing that **%%had to be accepted%%**. A religion is not a genetic marker. There are so many subgroups of different ethnicities and races that there is no way it can be a genetic marker (even though they try with 23andMe). And before Abraham accepted the Covenant, his family worshiped other gods. When they abandoned their God, Moses had to reintroduce the Covenant, it **%%had to be accepted again%%**. It's how Catholics/Christians are baptized to accept the faith. You can't genetically tell who a Catholic/Christian is, Muslim, Jehovah, Mormon, etc. You can convert if you choose to.
