The lady was a pampered upper-middle class house wife with a nanny. There are some great breakdowns of the case by lawyers online and much smarter people than I am. She killed her kids and then attempted suicide, now the defense is blaming society and the doctors. The defense admits she did it, they are trying to get the stipulation of psychosis.

Exactly, she was by no means a woman with no resources either, she had a husband who worked from home, a helpful mother who came to stay with her numerous times when she was stressed out, a fairly upper class lifestyle, a nanny, great medical insurance that covered multiple doctor visits, psychiatrists, therapists, and inpatient services as well as any and all medications she managed to doctor shop out of the multiple doctors she was seeing in unison, so any argument that she was overwhelmed by the children or caretaking is silly
