Hearing voices in your head that don't belong to you

I Was Hired to Dig a Secret Hole on a Volcano. I Still Don’t Know Why

This is a very helpful and thought-provoking discussion. I know nothing about the Yoruba people other than that their spiritual beliefs directly oppose traditional Western thought. Fascinating counter to what we've always been taught is true. All I know is that this seems a lot deeper and more profound than the id, ego, and superego. Different selves in different dimensions? Do they integrate? Or is integration not possible because they're all distinct but don't exactly communicate with each other? Blows my mind.

Excellent introspection🙏🏻 I am not following the Clancy case.  I am a medical professional, though not a psychiatrist.  In my experience in the acute care setting (15+ years), every person I’ve met who has experienced auditory or visual hallucinations has concurrently been completely aware of it.   They still retain the capacity to judge right from wrong.   People can have psychotic break and do things.   100% of those I have met had no memory of the psychotic period or anything that occurred during it.  This usually happens with acute infectious illness or stroke.   lastly, there are some medications a person can take that can induce what is called “conscious blackout.”  Ambien is notorious for this, particularly risky to those who consumed alcohol prior to taking it.   Not following the case, but if it’s a “hearing voices” issue…..  makes me wonder if it was a deranged reasoning process, crime of passion thing?  Husband threatening divorce?  Wife striking out by “taking the kids away”???

I was recommended this And now I'm totally intrigued. Thanks
