Start by defining the term “work.” I would define it as knowing if you have any nutritional deficiencies, and target supplements in that direction. Also, make sure your liver and kidneys are in good health, or temper your choices based upon the renal and hepatic function you do have. Lastly, target a diet and supplements aimed at minimizing overall inflammation in your body.

I suppose I was a bit vague huh. Certain things work for some and not for others. As well depending on diets and different needs and genetics different definitions of "Works" for different people. There isn't 1 magic pill to fix everything that is true. Probably about a year ago I started paying a lot more attention to Liver and Kidneys like you mention. People talk about heart health, cholesterol and the things you can outwardly see. A While back I actually learned I was drinking too much water and that can be bad for your liver too. Well not necessarily bad for your liver but it dilutes your electrolytes and decreases your vitamin absorption in certain cases.
