I live in LA, I know a few people in the industry. And I can not tell you HOW MANY people here are “secretly Republican”. The folks I know just want to ‘get the job done and move on to the next project’. I think the issue isn’t the percentage of liberals vs conservatives in the industry. (animation or Hollywood) When someone on the far left (possibly with an agenda) suggests something, people don’t speak up. Fear of retaliation or just to avoid conflict. All you need is 1 exec with certain beliefs who will steer the entire company/project in one direction. Tons of extremely talented, hard working people here (who are underpaid). But they’re doing themselves a disservice by keeping quiet. Between outsourcing and AI, there is barely any energy left to fight. People are just trying to survive.

Being Right wing doesn't have to be antagonistic to left wing causes rather, simply promoting ones values while steel manning the opposition is the best way to swing a thinker to either the center, or in the opposite direction. The example that always comes to mind is having obvious gay characters, but making it only a complimentary part of their personality instead of their character JUST being gay. Besides Fred Luo occasional hitting on the main character in Outlaw Star he is just another supporting character.
