I think that one person being able to bump something from 9 months ago to make it relevant again is a design flaw (unless it was intended to be a feature). The site information specifically states that relevant information with the most engagement is supposed to be at the top. However, that’s not the case. Even new “spam” won’t make the negative and hateful posts go away. I tried the other day to post as much as possible and others did too but the same old posts were still visible. Posts from the last few days should be the only things that stick around and if old, stale, snapshots from a screwed up moment in time prevail, there ought to be a discernible reason—like 20 bumps and or lots of new comments/contributions to the original post. As for making this site family-friendly, I think that’s a pipe dream. I think the goal of having a place that protects free speech (even the kind we personally hate) is the most American thing we can do but we also have to realize that no matter what we say or do, people aren’t gonna like it and may get angry and offended and walk away. That’s ok. I’m happy with the fact that we only have a few brave souls and skitzos-very representive of reality. Most people are checked out and MIA in reality, anyway. This is a good place to be, imo. We can only move forward having learned and improved (together) so as to not make the same mistakes again.

Is this your new algorithm proposal? Have you considered that this is the psyop (i.e. no time digest, think, bring robust contentions etc.)? I’ve noticed that the order of posts isn’t exactly organic. For example, one time, a user made a post containing certain information. A few days later, I made a post referencing some of that information. My post was directly next to the other post. Coincidence? It’s clear to me, consistently, that the posts and their order depended precisely on who’s “in charge.” For example, is it also a coincidence that your posts, shown at the moment, are directly next to another user who is quite important to you? In other words, the order shows preference. The order implies bias and control. The posts don’t appear to show up on their own but are specifically ordered to be together in a particular way to force a particular narrative depending on who’s telling the story while others get suppressed. Someone can make a “retarded” or otherwise low effort, low IQ, meaningless, random post and it sticks around but others’ new posts don’t get seen because, as I scroll, they aren’t visible until you get through all of the garbage. Seems like an algorithm thing, a thing that can change and that’s positive. We gotta focus on things we can change.
