nobody can provide such answers and thus is replaced with a faith, be it a religion of old or those who blindingly cling to ~~modern scientific~~ social political theories; any theory or religion which claims we came from something cannot answer what came before a creator/event or why we are here.   
  
Consider the thought experiment, (paraphrasing here) how long would it take a monkey to write shakespear if it had infinitie time to do so?, expanding upon that, think, how long would it take something to arrange itself in a way that it becomes me(writer) if something had infinite time to do so?  
  
Any theory or doctrine that gives you an answer is incorrect because you can observe by looking into the night sky the eternal/infinite darkness or by observing anything that adhears to cause and effect to have energy which you can demonstrably show cannot be created or destroyed thus has no beginning or end and is infinite. Any answer is given as a time frame be it a few thousand years ago or a few billion years ago to be when we(universe) was "created" any time frame does not represent infinity yet you can observe we exist within the governance of two something(energy/matter) and nothing(space).   
  
The universe has two eternal/infinite mechanisms something(energy/matter) and nothing(space) there is no before or after there is no divine purpose. something and nothing exist eternally they exist because they can, you (reader) exist because you can as do I. These mechanisms are what govern now this moment, every moment is the same moment the only difference is how something and nothing is arranged which when observed by anything sentient can reasonably predict the near future and recent past this is what we perceive as the passing of time.  
  
The universe is here because it is, always has been and always will be, is an answer many find uncomfortable as it implies finality, adding a creator or event that created us always opens up the question of what came before, the only acceptable answer for me personally is we live in the ever present which we observe as something and nothing and time only arises when you measure the distance of something over nothing and there is no before because there is no before infinity.  
  
This for me explains why we are here as there is no need for a creator or an event that created us, energy is eternal and has by definition infinite time and thus infinite time to arrange itself in a way that it wrote this very post.
