CensorshipTracker.com is a transparency website run by people who do not appear interested in telling you who they are.

It tracks governments, companies, surveillance systems and censorship laws while identifying its own owner only as “the Site’s operator.”

Apparently the first thing censored was the About page.

The site says “verified, not vibes,” then its terms say not to rely on anything as accurate, complete or current.

It criticizes fake online consent, then claims that merely visiting the site means you agreed to a contract with an unidentified party.

It warns about digital tracking, but does not clearly explain what visitor data it collects, logs or shares.

It calls itself community-sourced, while the anonymous operator reserves ownership over the text, maps, code and design.

Maybe the project is useful. Maybe the information is accurate. Maybe the people behind it have legitimate reasons to stay private.

But a transparency watchdog wearing a ski mask is still funny.

Censorship Tracker demands accountability from everyone except Censorship Tracker.
