Because he's not done. If he prevails all the backbiters will pivot to always have supported him. I never voted for a Republican or Democrat candidate before Trump. And probably only three months before I did, the word I used to describe him was "clown". Seriously. Then he was the actual Republican candidate and the moment of truth was upon us: What was the next probable turn of events? The next probable turn of events was either that Hilary Clinton or Donald Trump would become president, with no third option rising to probability of plausible. I felt like I understood the sort of thing Clinton was. I felt like I understood her motivations and how she would be allowed to exercise presidential authority. That's when I tried to understand Trump. And, when I felt like I understood him I gave up on a lifetime of "libertarian" presidential votes and voted FOR him. I voted FOR "us", the once and future nation of America. From my perspective he's taking the painful, perhaps only path to securing a future for this country and return it to being a nation. Do I like it? Not really. It's scary and expensive and the worst part is almost certainly still waiting for us, and by a really long margin at that. He's the only one willing to risk everything: His political power, his personal fortune, his freedom, his family's security, literally everything to pull us out of a fate that was written into the international plans before we were even born. And, if he wins... maybe the golden age. If he loses? Same as if he'd never been president. Trump still has my support and the support of pretty much everyone I know who supported him from early on, plus the support of people I know who utterly despised him early on. In at least my personal experience, among people who actually DO THINGS, he's at least as popular as he ever was, probably more so. But, let's be clear about the situation: He's president and by his command we're shuffling global resources on a scale that's never before happened in the history of the world as he pries the lever out of the radical Islamists and Chinese hands... or fails to do so. Whichever. And the moment he succeeds... you think Canada's mad at us now? Just you wait. That mask is almost completely off already. Think England is our ally? Not by any stretch of the imagination. Breaking the tuneable stranglehold of the middle east deprives virtually every anti-American power on Earth of the ability to leverage our economy against us. Limbaugh was right about who could disrupt Trump's base. But most people STILL don't know who that is. Yeah. I have problems with Trump. Truth is though, anyone else would have done every bad thing Trump did, but worse, while doing a happy dance. And I could easily be wrong about the "bad things" Trump did. You can analyze pretty much anyone in the oval office by the most shallow metric you can imagine and still be giving them too much credit. Trump is willing to take the slings and arrows and say a cold "Fuck YOU!" to the people launching them. He's not securing HIS future. Transparently not. He's trying to secure ours. You asked in an honest fashion, and I hope I've answered honestly. I didn't vote for him three times because I thought he was a charlatan. But, that's exactly what I thought of him before I gave him serious thought. I spent most of my life observing as every administration didn't just "fail", but actively seemed to winnow away what I thought of as "America" while "they" complained loudly those administrations weren't killing America fast enough. At least as I saw it. This is different. This is the first time anyone really ripped the veil for a revelation.

“He's not securing HIS future. Transparently not.” I don't know how anyone could possibly know that about another person's motives, but Trump is an especially strange person to make that argument about. This is a man who has spent decades putting his own name on practically everything he can monetize: Trump Tower, Trump Hotels, Trump National golf clubs, Trump Winery, condos, resorts, Bibles, sneakers, watches, perfume, coins, NFTs and now cryptocurrency and mobile service. His own company markets the whole collection as the “World of Trump.” New Trump-branded developments were still being announced internationally in 2026. And this isn't merely old branding from before politics. During and after his return to presidential politics, Trump licensed his name and image for $100,000 watches, sneakers, Bibles and other merchandise, then launched the $TRUMP meme coin shortly before taking office. AP reported that his 2025 financial disclosure showed major income from crypto, golf and resort properties, real estate and branded merchandise. You can argue that Trump believes his policies are good for the country. That's a political judgment. But “he isn't securing his own future” is something else entirely. The observable record is of a man who has spent most of his adult life building, promoting, licensing and monetizing his own name, and who continued doing it while serving as president. If there is one politician for whom “he has no interest in his own legacy or brand” requires evidence, Donald J. Trump seems like an unusually difficult choice.

I absolutely get what you're saying. I absolutely agree it's reasonable for you to come to that conclusion. Especially regarding how he's been portrayed, often by people who most people think admire him. I contrast what he needed to do to secure his and his family's future as a president of the US, which apparently can be almost publically advertised grifting with apparently no possibility of problematic scrutiny, with what he actually did, which exposed him to liability at every conceivable level. So, where you're finding yourself is contrasting a guy who was a billionaire who at least most public figures at the very least accepted as a brash gaudy billionaire with: "The sea level's are rising, so I'll buy ultra expensive property at Martha's Vinyard with money I shouldn't even possibly have." Obama. You seem to be genuinely trying to develop an honest transaction with reality as far as you can determine it. But, I think you're not quite employing the degree of skepticism to the narratives you're fed that you need to employ.
