Good question! Admittedly, I don't put much pondering into the source of dreams - and I can't recall any verses about them off the top of my head. I have also experienced sleep paralysis and death and mortal wounds in my dreams (When I was in a much different state of mind, admittedly) . I did always have the feeling that dreams were just a reflection of consciousness, though. Everything inside a dream can have meaning, or none at all. In REM sleep, I think we're letting the imagination to the forefront of our perception while our body is doing it's best to disburse nutrients and compounds to repair our body from the day's deficit. Maybe dreams are very important to our subconscious? Maybe they just entertain us while our body repairs and rests? Interesting question! Maybe a new thread is in order for dreams! SIDENOTE: Have you ever lucid dreamed? I remember learning the lucid training trick and taking advantage of it over a month. (Throughout the day you stop and look down at your hand, draw an 'A' and then a circle around it. Say out loud 'I am awake' as you do this. After a week or two at the most, you will do this in your dream at some point. When you draw the 'A' and circle it, in your dream your hand will come apart ore the A and circle will not leave your hand. When yo7u say 'I am awake', you'll realize this is not the case and yiou are inside of a dream.) When I was lucid regularly, however, I was in my mid 20s and had much different aims, motivations, and aspirations. So, mostly I would fly - or jump really high, really far over and over, or pick up something heavy with ease. I don't recall there being any useful tasks I completed, or reflections made while lucid dreaming.

Interesting and thank you for your insight. Yeah dreams are very strange, and why do we have them? I agree that it can be a mishmash of recollections and experiences from your day to day life, but there are dreams that people have had shared the same one or type. For instance, I remember in a dream I had a loose tooth. Went to the mirror wiggled it a bit and it popped out no pain... then the tooth beside it got loose and so on and so forth, I'm pulling teeth in a panic even trying to put them back in! Lol. Crazy but that's a common dream that people have had. Or even a prophetic dream (not me) people have shared in the past to warn them about an event in the future. When I realize I'm in a dream, yeah I do have useless super powers, can do anything etc.... but a sleep paralysis dream is something way different.... feels like an attack. I had a waking dream thst freaked me out so badly left me cold, soaked in sweat and shaking, my clothes had (this is silly) stood up like tgere was someone in them invisible though, waving it's arms over my face saying "hey, hey, hey" like it was trying to wake me. I was frozen in bed looking at this thing while trying to pull my bedside lamps chain (the on/off function), not taking my eyes off it... as soon as i successfully got my light on, everything returned to normal so quickly I dismissed it as just a dream, but I was soaked in sweat. Head to toe and my pillow, comforters were drenched too. That dream always stuck with me and made me curious what dreams really are...
