This will provide Russia with immediate access to high technology/consumer goods, better than west/U.S. and market to sell Russian goods, not just energy, but also other natural resources, and provide security to Russian Far East; no nation could dare to invade Russian Far East, when Russia has DPRK, ROK, Japan as allies. This will leave more Russian military assets to be deployed on the western side.
