Unfortunately, people do not go down a path of enlightenment until they truly hit a bottom. It doesn’t need to be a full-on rock bottom, but it needs to rock their world enough that they start to seek out new ideas. I think a cataclysm or a major calamity will be what is required to snap people out of it. If it means that many die, that may be the price of change. I just do not see how you get enough of a critical mass to see any radical change happening until people literally see no other way out. prisoners are highly disincentivized to try to leave a prison if they are 100% certain they’d never be able to escape with their life intact. The kernel of all change is hope.
