Btw. ROK didn't do this alone; UK helped as well.   Without UK help, ROK still would have accomplished it by 40, but RAF/RN are not happy with U.S. for denying UK access to F-35 maintenance program, ripping off UK so that LM can make more money.   Trump does not want MIC to rip off U.S. taxpayers, but he's ok with MIC ripping off other countries, even allies like U.K.   So, UK decided to get back at U.S. by helping ROKAF develop its own turbofan jet engine.

Furthermore even if just because it doesn't exist today, it doesn't necessarily follow it will not exist tomorrow.  It is a very plausible concept.  ROKAF is working on pibots, and working on KF-21 with boosters that can make it into a suborbital fighter/interceptor.

You see, with a pibot, there will be no need for expensive, heavy, cumbersome life-support system.   Trained human pilots are not easily replaceable.     This will allow ROKAF to turn KF-21 with a pibot into a suborbital fighter on a dime, and 'launch' compact neutron warhead ABMs into the predicted orbital path of oncoming enemy ICBMs/SLBMs, with the blast from neutron warhead creating a far more effective destruction/neutralization zone for the enemy ICBMs/SLBMs than possible from conventional warhead (or nuclear or just kinetic).

The total damage in human casualties would be far less than even the west point worst case scenario, a few hundreds to a few thousands, not the end of the world.   Certainly, nothing like 5 million like you had said.
