Far more information on ROK military/technology is available than in English, in many areas of technology, ROK has surpassed U.S. and the rest of the world; it's not just A.I. https://www.asiae.co.kr/en/article/2025113010025043774 https://en.koreaportal.com/articles/53603/20250621/korean-steel-giant-posco-makes-history-worlds-first-steelmaker-hall.htm The least recognized advantage of ROK technology is the steel; ROK can produce the highest quality steel in the world at economical price, this enables ROK to build artillery barrels longer, stronger, stiffer, more accurate than any other country; it enables ROK to build aircraft frame stiffer than any other. KF-21 can perform maneuvers that no other countries' jets can perform, due to the stiffness of the frame, will last far longer, lowering the lifetime cost, especially compared to F-35/22. ROK produce ramjet engine for hycore hypersonic smart stealth cruise missile, that can turn on/off in real time, on demand, extending the range up to 4 times that of vaunted Russian Zircon, increasing the steal capability as well, both visual and auditory; it's the only ram jet engine that can do that, due to the quality of steel. ROK will build the most advanced turbofan jet engine in the world, by 2030 to 35, partially, because of the quality of the steel. That is the constraint U.S. faces in developing the next gen jet engine, the next gen engine will have to withstand far higher stress/pressure than the current ones employed in F-35, but LM still cannot solve the bugs in the F-35 jet engine. The main reason for the unreliability, and lack of durability (compared to the past U.S. jet engine) is the lack of the quality of the steel relative to the internal stress it has to withstand. U.S. can no longer produce quality steel that can withstand the internal pressure for superior performance: ROK can. This is the inflection point; USAF never has had to face this problem. From now on, U.S. won't be able to advance fighter jet technology due to the constraint/bottleneck: Lack of quality steel. ''...instead of constantly trying to prove how "powerful" they are...'' Dude, ROKN will replace USN in the pacific side soon enough, before 2050, maybe by even 2040 with the approval of U.S. both politicians/militaries. ''In October 1992, Korea became the 43rd nation to join the submarine community. Since then, South Korea and its Navy have demonstrated an outstanding capability with respect to submarine force construction, sustainment and operation. In international exercises such as RIMPAC and Tandem Thrust, ROKN Type 209 submarines have demonstrated superiority in the detecting and attacking of powerful “enemies”. In 1998 the ROKS LEE JONGMOO participated in RIMPAC (as did HMAS ONSLOW). It sunk 13 warships (150,000 tons) and was the only submarine to survive until the end of the exercise. ROKS PARK WI participated in RIMPAC 2000 (HMAS WALLER participated also, with great success). Considering the 1998 RIMPAC achievements, “enemy” forces kept a close watch on PARK WI, making it a top priority for sinking during the exercise. However, she sank 11 enemy ships (96,000 tons) and, again, survived to the end of the exercise without being detected once by enemy forces. Admiral “Big Al” Konetzni, COMSUBPAC at the time, publicly praised the performance of the ROKN submarine. In 2002 ROKS NA DAEYONG participated in RIMPAC (as did HMAS SHEEAN). It sank 10 enemy ships (100,000 tons) and, matching the trend, survived to the end of the exercise. In 2004 it was ROKS CHANG BOGO’s turn to take part in RIMPAC (as did HMAS RANKIN). It successfully launched a total of 40 simulated torpedoes against 15 surface ships, including the nuclear aircraft carrier, USS JOHN C STENNIS, and her accompanying escorts. It survived until the end of the exercise without being counter detected and without mechanical issue. ROKN submarine performance at these exercises has invited keen attention. The ROKN have moved on to their next program, with three of a planned force of nine Type 214 submarines now commissioned. They have not looked backwards. Their submarine force doesn’t have any issues with respect to operating with the United States Navy, which they do on a more regular basis than our submarines. RADM Doug McAneny said in 2009, “The Koreans are very strong allies in the region. They are frequent participants in many of the multi-lateral and bi-lateral exercises we do in the region and we do sub on sub work with them as well”. Fight in the Dog Mark Twain once said … It’s not about the size of the dog in the fight, it’s about the size of the fight in the dog. It is clear that the ROKN submarine program has been highly successful. The ROKN have been involved in numerous exercises and operations over the past few years from Australia, to Hawaii and beyond – and done very well. They have boats with proven capability, which they are comfortable putting in harm’s way, with courageous, motivated, and well led professional crews.'' SEA 1000 THE LESSONS OF COLLINS - APDR (asiapacificdefencereporter.com) You see, ROKN has advanced far beyond since then even. By 2040, ROKN would be ready to replace USN in the pacific, and secure the oil/food supply route independently, and blockade China if necessary. ROK is already supporting the independence movement in Okinawa, so that when USN leaves, ROKN will take over with minimal friction. ROK is already supporting Philippine, so that Philippine could offer naval/air bases to ROKN/ROKAF when USN/USAF leaves. ROK is also supporting the remnant of Manchukuo so that ROK can move/annex Manchuria, with legitimacy, when the time is right for hyper tube trade route through C.A. to Europe, which will open massive resources from C.A. Russia, and Iran to the rest of the world far more efficiently, generating massive fortune for ROK/Russia/C.A. nations. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NkHF6qozQGk ''Its sad how much you see people as dispensable numbers, instead of "your" "countrymen" '' Well, significant minority of the electorate in ROK are certainly dispensable; they still support Yoon! ''these are the kinds of games I played as a kid. While still naive enough to not realize that every soldier "I lost" for my offensive was a Son someone with an individual life with hopes and dreams... '' Is that why so many 'patriotic' Americans still support the war in Iraq/Afghanistan? ''You at 60+ are so vacuous and empty that you come on a website to pound your chest and incessantly proclaim your greatness, ...'' I am 59; I present truth based on facts: I am one of the very few who does that. Too many people can't handle the truth based on facts: I can. I am still that porn guy aka Porn Kim, and still not blind, and I think hot older woman/horny teen boys is not pedophilia. https://www.christenseninstitute.org/blog/how-south-korea-became-the-most-innovative-country-in-the-world/ Even though the article is 5 years old, its validity still stands. I see other countries ranked as more innovative than ROK are lagging far behind in the latest technology, especially in A.I. https://www.asiae.co.kr/en/article/2025113010025043774 ''...and yet you do it from the safety of America,...'' I am already here; have been for decades. I didn't desert. So, I cannot tell the truth based on facts, just because I am in U.S.? What about you, Matt, etc? You cannot tell the truth based on facts, just because you're here? ''not in the trenches not even a civilian in harms way.'' Dude, so people do not have the right to tell the truth based on facts, unless they are in the 'trenches' or happened to be in harm's way? Is that American? Look, people had the right to oppose the war in Iraq/Afghanistan even when they were in U.S. Are you implying only people in Iraq/Afghanistan had the right to oppose the war? If some dumb people in Iraq/Afghanistan supported the war, then the people who opposed the war in U.S. should just shut off? Is that American? ''Can "AI" shoot all of this down? X for doubt.'' I agree too many hucksters are promising too much regarding A.I. in general use. However, A.I. is going to be the game changer in tactical, specialized application, not general knowledge base, that has to be made in real time, on demand. A.I. for one will make ROK interception and counter battery system far more effective and efficient to the point that initial DPRK attack will be largely neutralized. It will make KMPR more accurate in real time, on demand so that DPRK VIP leadership will know that they are doomed if they launched the attack, and I know they know, based on their implicit acknowledgement. One game changing aspect I think ROK may be working on is intercepting the enemy ICBMs/SLBMs in outer space, detonating them or diverting their course significant enough they won't fall on ROK and detonate. It would be using neutron warhead for ABM to detonate the enemy ICBMs/SLBMs in outer space after they launched the missiles.
