Doing well according to what standards? Economically? Or in terms of a satisfying meaningful life. Is America doing well?

In America, you can define your own life today. You can buy a lawn mower, a weed eater and a few other tools and build an empire. You can buy a pressure washer and live well in America if one so chooses. I don't see a lot of that happening in Pakistan as an example. I would argue people in America are too spoiled to understand what they have, humans always want more and for life to be like the Disney movies. The opportunities in America are much better than most if not all Islamic run countries.

The opportunities in America are definitely better, I agree. Good points. That said, I was recently in South America and there is something to be said for the way people know how to enjoy life there that I just don't see in the U.S. To me happiness is what is important, and there is a point to which money plays a role in happiness but after a certain point, more money no longer correlates with happiness. America is a better place than most to have that money basis for happiness... I would argue it comes at a slight expense though. Particularly in that people become spoiled and soft when things are too easy. That said, I guess I'd rather have my first world problems than real 3rd world ones.
