I think if you combine substack and reddit into a servicable value offering. E.g. we want to foster the reddit "gilding" mentality, but give the value back to the authors/contributors as per substack instead of just funding the platform as per reddit. Like I would probably chuck $10 a month onto an account, a few cents here some comments I like, a dollar there for a post I appreciate. And probably be willing to allocate more valuable towards it as the platform gets bigger and then quality contribution in the pool increases. If we go the coin route then we'll just have to trust in the value retention aspect, but I actually don't think people would have a problem with you profiteering off any of this \*to a reasonable degree\*. I just hope if contributions are somehow monetized it doesn't just turn into intellectual wank arms race to fleece up coins from popular opinion shilling... that would probably kill my interest in the platform. I favour a system that doesn't overly reward saying the thing everyone already agrees with (reddit) and disincentivises diversity of thought, presenting the unpopular opinion (also reddit).
