Ancient China did not have the same morality; it, too, did change over the time. But, in general, they had more respect for the elders, and that was not necessarily a good thing, when the elders were incompetent, out of touch with reality. They also revered ancestors, especially one's own parents, even if they were incompetent, immoral, mentally ill; would it have been a good thing? They also loved, and trusted one's own children, even if they were retarded; hello? They also strictly believe in gender roles, and it worked out ok, not great, but a real dumb bitch could connive her way into power, with the support of soy boys, and dumb fucks, kinda like right now in the west, but of course, she was no match against real men, smart, tough, and independent. ''- all societies are transient'' I agree, more or less. ''- traditional Vedic & Confucian ethics reveres the past & ancestors, where as Western culture spits on them'' I wouldn't go that far, but still, should one not spit on one's ancestors if they were stupid, immoral, hypocrites? Shouldn't Americans spit on the 'Greatest Generation'? ''- melancholy over the past is a waste for developing better futures in the present'' I agree, especially when the 'past' imagined was never the actual past.
