For sure they have began to bend the knee more recently. Like discontinuing their use of the word gay or fags was basically phased out after they made the episode about Harley bikers being fags because they're obnoxiously loud and they do it cos they need your attention like toddlers throwing a tantrum. But the bikers become offended that they are called fags and they begin this campaign to no longer allow the use of the word because bikers are people too. And the kids of South park are like totally confused because they werent calling them fags in a malicious or mean spirited way, it was just the word they used to describe when someone was being a real POS. I felt this episode was symbolically referring to the LGBT community and them pushing for south park to be banned or loose sponsors or have comedy central sever ties with them if they continued using the word despite them not being homophobic or using the term to degrade gay people. They used the word more often than not to describe straight people they disliked, the gay community was making it about them when they didn't have a problem with them in particular. They were always good at writing these deep symbolic episodes that dealt with real world issues in a distorted, humorous and funny way. So that episode was actually better when I realized it was the last time I believe they ever used that word on the show, so the episode began to make more sense. So anyways though the writers are brilliant cos nobodies off limits. If your being an asshole they will call you out on your shit, they served no particular master (besides comedy central who often times then not was supportive of any wild idea they made besides the time they drew a picture of Muhammed in response to Islamic extremists targeting Charlie hedbo and murdering him for his crime of free speech.) Those guys really stood on business and committed entirely to whatever position they took, even when they were getting death threats for the episode. But they live by the same motto we all should follow, "I rather I be beaten to death then beaten to submission." So no matter what those guys can do very little harm in my eyes, they're fucking hilarious and brilliant and have grown up with me, basically was dick and fart jokes when I was like 8 or 9 and would watch it in secret with my older cousin, then it matured to political and social themes, heavier topics as I began to become more intellectually aware in middle school and my preteens/teenage years.
