[This article](https://answersresearchjournal.org/alleged-human-chromosome-2-fusion-site/) actually suggests that chromosome 2 is a result of epigenetics through transcription factor binding rather than head-to-head fusion of chimp chromosomes (I have not looked into this journal's or authors' credibility, I'm just providing it as a possible alternative). [This article](https://www.stjude.org/media-resources/news-releases/2023-medicine-science-news/epigenetic-landscape-modulates-pioneer-transcription-factor-binding.html) about a research article kind of supports this theory, in a way. And seeing that certain [diseases/disorders/traits](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chromosome_2#:~:text=The%20following%20diseases%20and%20traits%20are%20related%20to%20genes%20located%20on%20chromosome%202%3A), many of which are posited to be caused by epigenetic factors, are linked to genes located on chromosome 2 may also support article #1's theory. Interesting!! My working (and sort of a joke) hypothesis is that some crazy shit happened when our ancestors figured out how to bang while facing each other, as opposed to doing it from behind like basically all other animals. That's the moment when we first "woke up."

Epigenetic factors. Would higher/lower radiation levels potentially be one? Or a higher or lower strength magtentic field. I suspect one or both of these is the answer.
