I’m an obstinate bastard and have always had a pretty keen nose for bull shit. Generally, if the pack begins to form rapid opinions around quick fixes or snake oil miracle cures, I get very skeptical and cynical, especially if the positions seem entirely manufactured polemically. I trust things that have 50-500 years of solid science behind it that doesn’t involve profiteering because profits can drive intense propaganda campaigns. Heuristics have taught me that pattern recognition can save your life if you know the pattern you’re looking at.
