Parent Post: Funny how your choice of words dictates your intent. Not really the other way around. Harmed. Not, Damaged.

I feel outside the labels or grouping but appreciate the thought. My perspective, and most of what I have lived, is of my own authorship... for better or worse:) A fallen human in a fallen world. I can claim I am mostly a victim of my own flaws, not of any particular interaction. I will admit I have a very narrow band of what I find satisfying in people, and I have to make up for that with tolerance and an appeal to our common condition. I cannot blame anyone. It is like watching my own choices play out in slow motion, and I still have to account for them.

Self harm is still harm. It's about how we perceive the condition. Think about if your hand just happens to be bleeding and borderline non-functional. What the hell do you do? How do you keep it from happening if you can't figure out what happened? It's "just damaged". But, if you harmed your hand, you can not do that again. I haven't thought about this in depth. It just popped into my head a minute before I wrote it. But, I feel like it contains a degree of wisdom that doesn't feel earned.
