I like cars and all that. But I also feel like driving is one of the things i'm looking forward to having a.i. control. The Fact we are all speeding around at 70 mph in giant steel death traps with the hopes that the other death traps wont crash into us is kind of a crazy moment in history. Theres so many bad drivers, we all see it constantly, and since the cell phone came out, its gotten significantly worse.

If AI is honest and good, then yes I can see it being good too. It'll likely improve the average irresponsible person on their phone, but the system will be flawed to some degree. Good defensive drivers probably would not want to switch to that system. Insurance companies would decrease rates if you let the car drive itself 100% auto, eventually financially forcing people into giving up autonomy. These problems can be solved, and are solved in other countries, through regular means that are available today. Giving up and relying on AI is a cop out and doesn't truly address societal issues that likely also pervade other issues. It opens the door for more authoritarianism and giving up freedoms. It also makes people more dumb, inept, and exacerbates the problem.

The increasing comfort and safety of vehicles is definitely a contributing factor. I learned this lesson driving cliffside roads. The lack of any guardrail leaving nothing but certain death directly in sight inches from your vehicle really makes people drive a lot better.

Whoever said steering wheels should have a big spike sticking out of it was on to something.

People are entitled and feel that everyone will act perfectly around them, When the reality is you can't trust that the other vehicles will behave logically on the road. If you're ever a passenger look around at the other drivers and witness how many of them are on their f#ckin phones.

This sounds like a post I'd make after trying to get home from work only for people to everything you'd expect as if they were personally trying to prevent your every move.

The prevalence of cars really should be a thing of the past hopefully soon. I have seen and become very impressed with self driving cars, but I am curious if there can ever be self driving public transit like busses. If we cannot have self driving public transit we need allot more of it I do not believe it would cost tax payers anymore to have more busses.

I no longer feel comfortable riding a bike on the shoulder of any road because far to many drivers are driving around texting and glancing up from thier phone to the road. Also those POS who purposely hit that retired police officer on his bike in Las Vegas has completely traumatized me that I can't ride a bike hearing a car approaching behind me and feel comfortable enough and confident enough that the person in the approaching vehicle is aware I'm even there.

This is one of those problems that's legitimately more complex and by-design than it initially seems. Cars are unfortunately the main form of transportation in the US. This is in order to magnify enslavement by several means. Including: financial drain, long and frustrating commutes, and isolation. So the lack of a good alternative means of transport basically mandates driving being a right rather than a privilege. In order to change this the entire landscape of our society would need to change to resemble, for example, how things were in 1910 or how they are in the Netherlands. But "they" don't want this. Hook everyone up to massive car payments, long and lonely commutes, mandatory insurance payments, and crippling repair bills. Then make the cities half roadways and parking lots (charge for those too). The pollution (sound and chemical) will shorten lifespans and make the streets as talkable as nightclubs and as walkable as the thunderdome. And that's why they must allow everyone the ability to drive. God bless! 🕊
