Yeah I think that's a decent way to conceptualise it. It's decentralising IPOs. I think the maturation of this concept results in different kinds of currency for different aspects of life and there will be different scales of this process. I expect it to be volatile initially and the current financial hegemon to undermine this realization at all costs. But to me, this material dispersion into decentralised systems seems like a force of nature, the water is leaking through and flood will come!

this is the exact narrative I believed in the nft hype, the problem with the IPO idea is there is 0 obligation for the team you're funding to offer any return at all, they'll start a business or whatever and you'll be left with a worthless coin or jpeg most of the time, I'm not joking when I say i've seen it happen 100's of times already. I actually fully agree nfts and meme coins can one day be seen as a "decentralized ipo" which is amazing, it's the reason I got very into nfts. But the industry is absolutley not there yet, I'm not sure what the solution is to legitimize the idea.

100% once the market at large actually gets what this is rug pulls become essentially a non-issue. We're so far away from that though, so you're absolutely right. As far as I can tell the market is evolving one rug pull at a time.

yeah, I just worry this leads to more regulation and centralization in the industry. will be interesting to see how it all plays out, I enjoy degenerate gambling as much as the next guy and I think meme coins are here to stay, but I hope they can become something more.
