The better analogy is that Abraham had raised the weapon and reached the decisive moment of obedience, but God stopped him before the irreversible act occurred. That matters, because the point of the test was not Isaac’s death. It was Abraham’s surrendered will. God did not need Isaac harmed to prove Abraham’s heart. The moment Abraham fully yielded was enough and God intervened immediately.

Dude, God is omniscient: He should have known the true faith of Abraham before that point was reached, long before Abraham was even born!

It wasn’t about God knowing or not knowing. That is the point you keep missing. God’s omniscience is not in question. God knew Abraham’s faith before Abraham was born. But Abraham still had to actually walk into the moment where that faith became obedience. Knowing what someone will do is not the same as the person having actually done it in time. The test was not for God to discover Abraham’s faith. It was for Abraham’s faith to be proven, matured, and brought into action. James 2 says Abraham’s faith was “completed by his works.” That does not mean his faith was fake before. It means faith becomes complete when it is lived out. So no, God did not “learn” something. Abraham became something through obedience.
