It's a societal issue brought on by the debt based money system. We need to think more long term and live by the "buy once, cry once" motto and buy things that are built to last even if they cost more. The money system needs fixed before any of these other problems can be fixed. Once that is done people will respect their money more and think of purchases as investments. The thing that we can do is demand full replacement warranties (length based on price) Choose the company you want to buy from based on their warranty, and force them to honor it through a company like Amazon. Example, I love the Shokz bone conduction headphones $129 on Amazon. They have a 2 year replacement warranty, but for my replacements, I don't wait the 2 weeks that they want to replace through their warranty program. I buy another set from Amazon and return the broken ones, all within 1 day. If you want to extend the warranty for longer, you can use contract law to do (most of the time for free) That of course is a whole other thing, but can be done with allonges and certified mail.
