Agreed. Reading books doesn’t make a person smart. But writing them and or reading them requires an attention span and level of literacy that is admirable. Btw, I’m not saying that books are the end all be all for authoritative information. I realize I can sound like an ass sometimes when trying to defend the mainstays of academia but I really want more people to read books. Any book. Written by anyone. I don’t want libraries to die and the whole of human wisdom (or stupidity).
