"We" (being we the people) lost the country at the end of the Civil war. It's been under control by another power ever since. It's taken a long, long time for enough people to start waking up to this, and seeing what's been going on behind the scenes for many years now. I think the "empire" will continue on for several more years before any significant changes happen. As a people, we have not yet learned to disagree, yet be friends and love one another, and if "they" (the controlling powers) have their way, we never will. We've been poisoned daily for decades, and we have very little self control or will-power anymore, and without that primordial drive, I see nothing changing but us ending up deeper in the meat grinder. It may very well take an outside people coming in and cleaning house to see any changes for the better. But remember what the people of Germany went through for years after the end of the war! They paid a heavy price for their laziness and compliance with the "system".
