Good point. I think is has been intentionally removed from mainstream academia. I never realized that critical thinking was being encouraged while they were doing it. I only recognized it long after I was done in classes with philosophy, theology and the sciences. I came to think about critical thinking more as dialect or an accent that you grow up with when it is a part of teaching. The teachers and professors just did it as as though it was part of their nature. They had experienced it and it became part of them. I think that subculture movements also encouraged critical thinking since they celebrate the rejection of mainstream propaganda. It used to be that the government wanted a well educated society. Innovators and free thinkers to accelerate the growth of the economy and make the country more powerful. Now it seems that they only want sheep that just keep eating the grass and never look up.
