It's actually really hard not to. I want you and everyone else to realize what he was like so they can all understand what was lost that day. How absolutely pure and innocent that cat was and how it killed him, but not before he ran for home, only to drop dead, unable to reach it. And, conversely: I hope you never even approximate an understanding of what it was like to lose him, to see him running that last thirty feet while still being too late to save him, to hope against hope that just maybe he'd pop back up afterward, of endlessly imagining that I see him in every place I'd expect, to sit down on a lawnchair without him climbing up my leg and wanting cuddled. I want you to know. I hope you never do.
