Well internet friends I have my destination and started booking my trip unfortunately I can train ride through but I am pretty sure I'll find what I need when I get there. This stays my secret for now so I thank everyone's input and hopefully one day I can check every place you mentioned. After I leave I'll post one to tell you guys where I was

North Eastern US, not really caring much for luxury or expensive taste. I got enough to get me where I'm going and back just looking to get away and clear my head.

If you want train travel, most of it is going to be luxury. Just the way it is unless you go somewhere tucked away and rural. Since I don’t know your needs but you want to get away and clear your head, it sounds like you want an experience. If I was you, I’d get out of the US. Fly to China and take a train to Tibet. Fly to Mumbai and take a train to Goa. Take Scandic Rail around Norway and Sweden. My advice is to go somewhere with mountains. Go somewhere where you’ll be completely out of your element. It’ll be scary and uncomfortable at times but I’m willing to bet you’ll come back clear. If, for time concerns, need to stay in the US, drive through Canada on the Alaska Highway. You’ll be all alone in the wilderness. I drove from Auburn, Alabama to Anchorage, Alaska. I white-knuckled a lot of it but it was definitely a life-changing time. No passport? Still go to Alaska but stay away from Anchorage. It definitely ain’t what it used to be. Have fun and stay safe!

I might get caught up if I try to leave the country and I was eyeing work in Alaska but don't enjoy the cold. I was talking to a coworker about the grand canyon and apparently is in Arizona so I'm feeling that may be the move. Have you ever been?

I had planned to go a few weeks ago but the north entrance is closed for the season. Wanted to head to Bryce Canyon but was short on time. Been there once and it was amazing. If you have at least a full week… do a loop thru all the national parks in Utah, North of Arizona and Sedona… and Wyoming… might need about two weeks to take your time and soak it all in. I just did a quick trip to Zion and Horseshoe Bend.

Yes, I’ve been though the corners as someone else suggested. I’ve been to Arizona-Phoenix up to Flagstaff. It’s beautiful but, yeah, it’s good to know you don’t like the cold! Lol 😂 Sedona is great too. https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/4-corners-overlanding-trip-trail-hikes-camping-and-the-must-see-sights-suggestions.543887/

You mean the national park? https://visitfourcorners.com/visit-arches-national-park/ garden of the gods is below cedar mesa. https://youtu.be/F_QDgGOuhKA a lot of the big attractions are outlined in the travel guide I gave him too. There’s a lot to do so it takes planning and a lot of prep.

I’ve always just hoped in the car and started driving but yes with trains more planing is required. I think I saw a Jon Levi video once and decided I’d check out all the state capitols I could from California up to Idaho then across to Colorado then down to Texas

I’d avoid the cities unless you like stepping in shit and wanna risk getting aids from walking down the streets and encountering a stray needle… partially joking. But for real I lived in Mendocino county for years and I have to say west of the 101 is some of the most beautiful places I’ve seen, there are some amazing places inland too but it’s hit and miss. Columbia River Gorge is on the list as well, water falls should be banging this time of year and flowers popping. America is a beautiful country I’ve road tripped extensively with my dogs and have had great times everywhere. I believe rural people are the best and similar everywhere in the world in their solid morals and demeanors. So I love and get along with them well. I’ve had good chats with random farm folk in saloons in the middle of nowhere Wyoming. People are mirror if you go around with light it reflects back. just be curious and fully immerse and you can have fun anywhere.
