First things first. I dont expect to need the great wall of China here. As I said there aren't gangbangers here and we'll be good with our neighbors, gangs won't get to us for a long time. Thats a better start than what you describe. I'm not building a prison. But I do appreciate your opinion and I get your point. That would be in a perfect world but is far from a requirement.

You want the farm field to feed those a few families sufficiently; the circumference for the perimeter/wall is going to be pretty large, almost the size of a big prison to contain those farm fields. Besides you would want some live stocks for protein. How are you going to get those animals to graze inside the wall/perimeter? Those gangs will go on a rampage looking for places to loot after the implosion. ''Thats a better start than what you describe. I'm not building a prison.'' To contain those farm fields, the wall/perimeter is going to be as large as a big prison; why I said, you don't want those farm fields to be inside the wall/perimeter for the living quarters of those families. Why I had said, the farm fields are going to be outside the wall/perimeter for the living quarters for those families. Especially when you have livestock to graze. Of course, those livestock will have to stay inside the wall/perimeter at night.
