A very cool story of fighting the powers that be. And people should be well traveled and fight against oppression. You should be proud of your accomplishments and enjoy your retirement. But I fail see where as you aren't just kind of gloating that you are rich, and was made rich by being an American. And now use the power of that currency and the power that lies within America to now live in foreign countries. On many countries immigration websites they clearly state if you have a lot of money you are welcome to live here. That being said I think it's great you are spreading your story and encouraging people to try new things, congratulations on the business success and your new exciting lifestyle. I think like you have done in the comments, it is important to note to people that there are good places to live that will accept Americans, not just by law buy also culturally. There are certain parts of certain countries that will not like Americans. I think it's important to note to people that you probably did a lot of preparation on where to go and how to assimilate to the culture as well as learning new languages.

You fail to see where I am not just gloating because you are potentially envious? You don't know me, how I made my money, how I live - how I struggled, the decisions I made, where I was born etc. This is not a good look for you to say this while thinly veiling your jealousy and judgement with compliments. It is quite sad as you are an intelligent person. Perhaps reread what you wrote. I am not your typical American, have not lived in America most of my life, did not build my wealth in American - spent over 70% of what I have made in charitable causes, innovated, employed and empowered people. did fight the power. I only sold my compnay so I could speak freely and publicly without endangering my employees and business partners future. I could have been a VERY rich person if I compromised even a smidge - instead I lived a frugal life as a CEO on less than 10 dollars a day, drove old cars, thrift shopped etc. I come from Appalachia. Perhaps look it up. I sleep VERY well at night knowing my sacrifices I made to have a modicum of comfort in my later years and it was through my frugality. I hope one day you have your own failures, success and triumphs - then try and share with others only to be criticized by those who don't know you. Enjoy your life and what you make of it. Please refrain from posting in this thread as this added no value, is not on topic and made me think less of you. Reddit shit. Other people could use some free help and real world advice - not your sermons on my lifestyle. Also, fuck you.

I apologize for any offense. Like I tried to say, poorly, I think your story is awesome! I meant only to add to the discussion that what you have done is very difficult and impressive. And may not seem as easy as your original post may have led on. While yes anyone can do it, it's a very difficult situation to achieve. I agree it is something to be inspired by and motivated to achieve for many others. I intended to add how much preparation and difficulties must first be done before attempting such a life to the observer. I believe your intent was not to gloat but to inspire and probably didn't word my statement all that great. With that I will leave your thread alone, Cheers.
