Crypto is the greatest. We're not hackable. Oh no Mr. Bill. We got hacked. As of late 2026, the cryptocurrency landscape has seen significant theft volumes, with 322 confirmed hack incidents recorded in 2026 alone, totaling $8.73 billion stolen. This figure is more than double the total number of hacks in 2025, which saw over $3.4 billion stolen across nearly 150 incidents. The majority of these losses are concentrated in a few major events: 2026: The Binance hack in October accounted for approximately $6.3 billion, representing about 73% of the year's total losses. Other notable 2026 incidents include the KelpDAO exploit (~$292 million) and the Drift Protocol breach (~$285 million). 2025: The Bybit exchange was hacked for roughly $1.5 billion, and the Cetus Protocol suffered a ~$223 million loss. 2024: Losses totaled approximately $2.2 billion across 303 incidents, including the DMM Bitcoin hack (~$308 million) and the WazirX breach (~$235 million).
