"shackles" begs explanation. There's an implication that "hitman" has some internal morality that wouldn't fit the conventional model of morality. This invites the question of how does he derive his morality? Or does he eschew the category entirely? The idea that this woman is a "true Christian", and that this characteristic makes her a potential ideal candidate to bear his children implies that he considers this factor relevant to his goals, which must somehow intersect with the values this woman would impart to his children. Is it a factor that he considers this woman's loyalty to her cause a genetic feature he'd consider important for his children to have? But, you brought up the idea that he considers a potential afterlife for himself. It begs the question if he considers the possibility that what HE believes has an effect on that afterlife.

''There's an implication that "hitman" has some internal morality that wouldn't fit the conventional model of morality.'' Yes, he does; he regards conventional morality as phony morality. ''This invites the question of how does he derive his morality? Or does he eschew the category entirely?'' He derives his morality organically based on true incidents he has witnessed with his own eyes, and how people really behave in private. ''The idea that this woman is a "true Christian", and that this characteristic makes her a potential ideal candidate to bear his children implies that he considers this factor relevant to his goals, which must somehow intersect with the values this woman would impart to his children.'' He does; he wants his children to be authentic, totally self-aware of what they are about, not deluding themselves that they believe in something they don't. ''Is it a factor that he considers this woman's loyalty to her cause a genetic feature he'd consider important for his children to have?'' He does. ''But, you brought up the idea that he considers a potential afterlife for himself. It begs the question if he considers the possibility that what HE believes has an effect on that afterlife.'' He does. Another character I want to imbue him with is Capt. Pike, and Vina. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Menagerie_(Star_Trek:_The_Original_Series) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5M_WC_06quw https://www.youtube.com/shorts/yz4iXna_zyc The story of the hitman and the 'True Christian Lady' on the doomed airliner is going to take 2 to 3 chapters of 'The Theater of Life', a story within a story, that is going to be told like 'The Notes from Underground', 'Little Mermaid', '1984', 'DOA', and 'White Night', and 'The Grand Inquisitor' by Dostoyefsky. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/White_Nights_(short_story) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Grand_Inquisitor I intend 'The Theater of Life' to be told, at least partially, in 'One Thousand and One Nights' style. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/One_Thousand_and_One_Nights#Literary_themes_and_techniques Musical motif of the hitman's story would be like these three: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yTgD7YGSVyI https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nFjxjK8arc8 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2LOxvgD0KEo

Okay. So, it seems as though her actual theology is irrelevant. All that's relevant is that she seems truly loyal to it. In which case you can literally just plug any Christian-ish theology you want into her character along with any quirks you think would intrigue "hitman". So, her essential theology is that Jesus Christ died on the cross and came back to life three days later, and that his death somehow relates to her salvation from innate sin condemning her to Hell. After that, virtually anything you can think of works for her character. So, why does the question of Satan's relationship to God matter in this story? Are you just wanting to get the mainstream conception of Satan according to most Christians? Or is this woman a little more educated and aware of Satan as a part of God working his will? For that, all you need to know is that the ancient conception of Satan from the time the Jews became supposed monotheists is that Satan fills the role of questioner. The one who asks the annoying questions and conducts the trials of daily life to test the faithful. This took various forms conceptually, but anything you can come up with that fills in that general idea would fit for this woman.
