It's not a matter of keeping it that way; it will always stay that way whether one likes it or not. However, that does not necessarily mean 'that way' is just one way; there are multiple ways it can happen, and it will have different consequences, with either superior OTNI, or inferior, and one has a choice to support these different alternatives of 'that way'.
