Because one dude was focused on "white rage" what does that mean? DARPA answers most questions. American's do this for fun.

I appreciate your engagement on this topic! That video is glorious. But Darpa is not. Darpa receives lots of money and produces... less than one would think. I'm not sure to what degree there is corruption and to what degree there is plain incompetence... but the Taxpayer does not get their money's worth. I suppose that's what we get for having a society that puts physicists into Wall Street rather than actually pushing the envelope for science. (Looking at you Eric Weinstein.) If you want your mind blown, google "2024 Research Leaders: Leading academic institutions Nature". That is a large part of the reason why China is eclipsing the United States in even military technology. Between the disappointing progress with railguns, to lasers, to a panoply of things... I again return to the J-36 vs the stalled out NGAD program. 36011 flying around in public, vs secret tech demonstrators that supposedly flew once upon a time for the government... but apparently led nowhere, with not even a prime contractor selected. The rise of China is real, and something that will need to spur Americans to rethink their role in the world... not just economically, as the US economy is going to shit parallel to this, but militarily as well.
