That stinks! I hope you find something soon. Moving is such a stress. Ugh. Re: becoming proficient: I actually had to do that once. I really needed a car and the only one I could afford was a manual—I learned how to drive it in rush hour traffic. Fun! Lol Good luck! 🙏

"*I really needed a car . the only one I could afford was a manual—I learned how to drive it in rush hour traffic*" That must be the best way to learn, stopping & starting🚦. I read that "12 US States Are Planning to [Ban the Sale of Gas-Powered Cars](https://www.cnet.com/home/electric-vehicles/states-banning-new-gas-powered-cars/) . Eleven more US states announced plans to follow suit" 🚗💨; & I'm going to need a new car, soon. If I learn to drive manual, my options for 2^nd^\-hand cars will increase. I learned to drive in NYC (Manhattan); & at my driving test I touched the curb w/the car while parallel parking😐. The test started when I was told, as the test guy flicked his hand forward toward the front window, "*drive!*" After I drove away from my teacher, standing at the DMV curb, I imagine I was subjected, for a while, to calls to change lanes here & there, or turn "*Left*" or "*right*" ... After the tester told me to pull over & park, though, I touched the curb & had to pull out to try again🤦🏻♀️. As I started to back up the 2^nd^ time he said, sharply, with the forward hand flick, "*just drive*." When we finally returned to the teacher waiting at the curb, the tester shoved the paperwork at me, got out of the car, & stormed off. My teacher leaned in the passenger window to ask what happened; & I told him "*he said I passed*"😐. I didn't drive again for >20 yrs, until I was living in the Bronx & could at least expect to find a parking spot when I got home from work in Brooklyn (it cut a 1½-hr ride to a ½-hr drive). Having a car after a lifetime riding subways, buses, & lugging food home in a folding shopping cart, I love driving. With a book on tape🔊👂🏻, I don't even mind hitting traffic. Still, you reminded me, I want to learn to drive manual...

I love your story! Thank you! And, yes, I support your decision to drive a manual-so fun. 😁
