The difference in diameter between the polar an equatorioal diameters would show up as about the thickness of 13 toothpicks on a 50ft globe. In other words: No visual difference at all.

I grew up surveying. I can visually see an inch of deflection in 100 feet. You can't. I can detect a wall 1/4 inch out of plumb. You can't. Most builders can't. I once surveyed a site for a building five FEET out of level when the customer imagined it was all but level to begin with. I KNOW what ordinary people can and can't see with their eyes without training. I moved to become a machinist dealing with precision you not only can't see, you can't even imagine. If someone actually made a sphere 50 feet in diameter and another sphere squashed to represent the actual polar circumference compared to the actual equatorial circumference, you not only couldn't detect it visually, you'd probably be incapable of accurately measuring it. Seriously. I'm not trying to impugn your senses or logic. I'm pointing out that you can't know what you don't know in this instance. You're awesome at whatever you're awesome at. It's not this. You're not a bad person. You're not a dumb person. You're just wrong. It's okay to be wrong and then get right. It's not so okay to just keep being wrong.
