You are on track. If you don't take care of yourself or you introduce poisons into your system you will get sick. You can have flu like symptoms and sneeze next to, but guess what, if I have taken care of myself, I won't get sick. Back during WWI, the War Department (as it was called then) were trying to determine what made people sick. They had healthy sailors sit with sick soldiers with the Spanish flu to observe transmission. Guess what happened, only one sailor got sick and threw into question the premise of contagion.

It didn't throw into question the premise of contagion. You in the above sentences talk about someone "taking care of themselves". Contagion happens, its just at what level.
