This is a good post. *I've had some serious back and forth with sonatime and I categorically reject your characterization of what he believes.* Not that my opinion is required, but for what it is worth....I agree with this....well said. *Sonatime stops to help. You go on your way bitching about whatever you can think of.* Yes...Sonatime would stop to help. There is zero doubt. However, Sacredcow would stop to help you, too. But for very different reasons. And if you don't object, I am putting a comment here in this post from a future post you made on this very subject. *"The question isn't which of you would have the capacity to help. The question is which of you would have the motivation."* Almost exactly this...except...it might be more accurate if it were phrased.... *The question is which of you would have the proper motivation.* Not just motivation....as some are motivated for less than humble/honorable reasons. After helping, Sonatime might feel blessed in having been able to help you in a time of need. But tomorrow, Sacredcow might come on here and gloat... how you, the almighty Boomer, needed his help....help from a stoner.😅 And that would be a trophy for him....to bring that up....most anytime it felt appropriate...or not. Sonatime wouldn't mention the event....unless to back your word when you mentioned it. I go with both of them would help....100% Does that seem about right? Not into character assassination...just observation. Peace.😇

I think that's a fairly helpful observation of the social dynamics of the situation, and probably fairly accurate. I hold a sort of middle ground between those two takes, at least in my own head. I feel grateful that I can help, generally with little actual cost to me, and perhaps teach someone the value of being prepared and taking care of themselves. If they're significantly older than me, and act like decent people, I feel honored to be there to make them feel better about those who're taking over the world from them. If they're significantly younger, I feel proud to hopefully have given them some impetus to how they should live their lives. My take on cow is, of course, I believe, more accurate. He'd like to see himself as being helpful, but not so much that he'd actually inconvenience himself to be helpful. The excuse of how much pain he's in, the presumption that he'd perhaps be intimidating and scary because of his size. Some excuse would be there to make him just keep on moving. But, there's no reason anyone should consider my take on them to be more accurate than anyone else's.
