The story of oregon trail video game is crazy. Some guy made it for fun while working for the Minnesota state education system. He donated the rights to the game to the State of Minnesota (MECC), and it ended up being one of the biggest money makers on the states budget for decades. They made millions licensing The Oregon Trail to other states, ironically Oregon had to pay Minnesota to play The Oregon Trail. Government is wild lol. I saw a documentary about it years ago it's a fascinating story.
