Try not to frame disagreements as “corrections,” especially if the other person is speaking in good faith. Instead, say: “My take is different because of x, y, z. What do you think?” That way it’s about perspectives, not being right. Sometimes people take offense—especially online, where anonymity makes knee-jerk reactions more visible. But that’s not the end of the world. Most folks can handle disagreement, if its constructive. That said, if you find yourself constantly walking on eggshells around someone because past interactions went poorly, it’s okay to stop engaging. Passiveness isn’t kindness—it’s just pre-emptive de-escalation. Part of being kind is being honest (more often that not at least). And a good relationship is feeling comfortable enough to do so.
