"Cyclical religious debate and tribalism" aka humans. These basic things define most human lives. Religion drives people and that is mostly why this site was started, being against the Jewish religion. Yes, most people just want the slop from Twitter as a distraction from the distraction of life. Most humans don't want to engage in any thought process that makes them feel uncomfortable about the life they have been told to believe. So, Twitter and Facebook with pictures of food are what the masses love.
