I remember Matt briefly touching on blood guilt, but I can’t recall the context now or whether it was directly biblical. Do you remember? There are clear biblical mentions of blood guilt. The main basis for the idea of blood guilt connected to the duty of sharing or warning about God is found in Ezekiel. In Ezekiel 3:17–19 (and Ezekiel 33:7–9), God appoints Ezekiel as a “watchman” for Israel and says: “When I say to the wicked, ‘You shall surely die,’ and you do not warn him, or speak to warn the wicked from his wicked way, in order to save his life, that wicked person shall die for his iniquity, but his blood I will require at your hand. But if you warn the wicked, and he does not turn from his wickedness… he shall die for his iniquity, but you will have delivered your soul.” The same principle appears in the New Testament. The apostle Paul applies it to his own ministry: Acts 18:6 – When the Jews in Corinth opposed him, Paul said, “Your blood be on your own heads! I am innocent.” Acts 20:26–27 – To the Ephesian elders: “I testify to you this day that I am innocent of the blood of all, for I did not shrink from declaring to you the whole counsel of God.”
