Perhaps a better descriptor would be masculine and feminine...and their derivatives. Highly effeminate men are just as vicious, if not exponentially more so, than women. With someone as highly effeminate as George Orwell, he would be able to easily recognize the traits in women....that are also employed by those highly effeminate men in positions of power or influence. So in a book....it shows his displeasure with certain types of women...and perhaps for good reasons. When what would have been 'wiser' would have been to describe the behavior...and not blame it on just one sex. For example, If he had said...... *"It was **also** the woman, especially the young ones....* This gives a more universal acceptance of people being horrible....and others noticing it. Then again....maybe he was saying it with a touch of humor? Orwell was pretty clever, and had good insights....that quote would have him painted as a misogynist today.....not sure that would be a good descriptor of him. Again, it is odd to blame the sexes and not the personality disorders....unless one realizes there is a purpose in driving this division of the sexes....we may fall victim to it ourselves. And here we are. Peace.😇
