It depends :) If they have wealth, they will be scapegoated. If they’re poor, they will be sacrificed. I think boomers are a reliable left-leaning voting bloc, so they have their temporary use. But the numbers need to be crunched to see if they’re actually needed:) The Canadian government has analyzed healthcare cost savings from voluntary MAiD. A 2025 academic paper by Jamil and Pearce also models hypothetical non-voluntary scenarios for vulnerable groups (projecting up to $1.27 trillion in savings by 2047), but it is not government-commissioned research.
