Washington was goated but yeah... even back then, he was up against forces more powerful than any of us can imagine and was probably trying to negotiate with it. The point is that once you reach higher levels of power, even if you have good intentions, you probably have to accept some level of perversion when trying to pursue an ideal. Nothing is perfect... and policing that requires constant vigil (and blood to water the tree of Liberty). That's why a cultural change is required. If people operate based on an existing internal societal agreement, overbearing external controls are not required. It becomes self-policing. Our civilization hit its peak with a largely homogeneous, White Christian population with the ideals of freedom and Christ-inspired personal responsibility. The answer is not communism.... The ultimate failing of communism is that it tries to engineer a better human society with external, centralized controls. People always rebel against external forces eventually. The human spirit wants to be free. More government is not the answer. People need to embrace the new culture willingly. To me, that is the power of God, spirituality and religion. It needs to cut to the heart of your very being. And that's why I say that the next revolution will be completed by people who have higher ideals than being as rich and powerful as possible. They just need the resources and support to complete their work. And it is entirely possible that "white hats" are already working to better the situation in the background. We just have no idea because they're way, way ahead of us in terms of being able to work in the shadows. But I'd rather not count on someone else saving me... because hope is not a strategy.
