Opinions like this one are very reasonable in the sense that if you look at individuals in organizations and see their mistakes then you attach them to the organization as a whole. This opinion is also held by people who probably politically are libertarian and don't like being told what to do. But it is very easy to dissect why the theology you want to be real cannot exist rationally. If everyone individually finds God then everyone can create their own God and if everyone has their own God then they create their own rules for God. This is essentially what modern day Protestantism has become, if everyone can read and interpret the Bible, all these churches come up with different interpretations. The response is that all you have to do is believe in God and you will be saved and that the interpretations only exist on the small stuff and doesn't make a difference at all but this does not rely in truth. Many christians deny the immaculate conception or that Christ did actually rise from the dead. I was raised in a methodist church and was told that ALL of the stories in the bible weren't actually real and they were all myths, if that is true why bother going to church at all? What authority has given you the supreme power to say what God is and how your relationship with him should be? And if you say yourself you think very highly of yourself and think you have outsmarted the rest of the world.

You don't need authority to tell you something you can logically deduce. However, in matters of divine revelation, an authority must be put in place by God to guide the people towards the truth. There is literally just no other way to go about it. In terms of the Church, Jesus is very clear about this: "He that receiveth you, receiveth me: and he that receiveth me, receiveth him that sent me." Matthew 10:40 "And I say to thee: That thou art Peter; and upon this rock I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. And I will give to thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven. And whatsoever thou shalt bind upon earth, it shall be bound also in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose upon earth, it shall be loosed also in heaven." Matthew 16:18-19 "Amen I say to you, whatsoever you shall bind upon earth, shall be bound also in heaven; and whatsoever you shall loose upon earth, shall be loosed also in heaven. Again I say to you, that if two of you shall consent upon earth, concerning any thing whatsoever they shall ask, it shall be done to them by my Father who is in heaven. For where there are two or three gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them." Matthew 18:18-20 "When he had said this, he breathed on them; and he said to them: Receive ye the Holy Ghost. Whose sins you shall forgive, they are forgiven them; and whose sins you shall retain, they are retained." John 20:22-23
