The path is Narrow. God speed to you sir, you are on the path now.

There is no God; bible is a fiction. I can prove it using the scripture itself, but I am saving it for the book I am writing. Besides, how many 'Christians' are true Christians? A true Christian shouldn't be afraid of death. People who are afraid of death cannot be Christians.

I was raised Pentecostal and fell out of that religion as a young adult. I still believed in God, but felt something was wrong with the religion I was in. When I reached my mid 40s I felt drawn back to know our Creator and Jesus better so I started down my own path. Each day I would pray for guidance and discernment before doing a DEEP DIVE into the Bible. Blueletterbible.org is a good study tool to use to help interpret translations. The reason I wanted to study was I found out how wicked our gov and the Israeli gov are and I wanted to understand why, we as Christians, would support them. What I learned is that WE DO NOT! That is a whole 'nother story, but I found some online pastors I enjoy; such as Pastor Chuck Baldwin with LibertyFellowshipMT, Rick Wiles from TruNews (they are Orthodox Christians) and https://www.youtube.com/@LawofLiberty (Baptist). As you can see, I listen to different religious groups, but these men have the same things in common and that is there is NO pretrib rapture and no support of that political antichrist state located in the middle east. I still conduct my own studying when I have the time, but just pray and seek the truth. Ask the Lord to guide you in your journey.

The Catholic Church rewrote scripture to fit their narrative. Worship false idols like mother theresa, a big nono in the Bible. They ask for money, they hold power, they tell you that you won't be saved without the church, even though Jesus disproved this a long time ago. How can one follow an organization that can't even follow their own Bible?

Well it’s clear you’ve been fed a bunch of bullshit and was told it’s truth. 😂 read the didache ,read the early church fathers. You will find what you’re talking about is not believed by the apostles. When you’re ignorant of history, you can believe anything happened.

That we worship people like mother Teresa, we venerate our saints , which might confuse Protestants because they merely venerate the Lord while we worship. Also saying that we changed scripture, when the prots after Luther took books out of the Bible.

You use different words and mental gymnastics to excuse your behavior. You still worship "saints" of your own creation. Mother Theresa was a crazy torturing psychopath. Not a saint. You do change scripture. Saying "oh this other group also changed scripture" means nothing. Just because someone does it, it doesn't make it ok. You redirect and muddy the waters because you cannot come up with a straight refutal. Because I am right.

I use the words that we historically have used. It’s the Protestant culture that has lessened the word worship to mean other things, you act as if we Catholics are coming up with novel ideas. Truly you must look back in history with your pride aside and do research. You are looking for a speck in my eye while you have a log in yours. Brother do not accuse others of mental gymnastics when history shows otherwise. Also, I’m sure you might need to look as to what being a saint truly means. Of course there are gonna be dark stops on peoples history, we will not dispute that, we are not saying she or other saints are perfect persons. You must look at what the church does to declare someone a saint. I’m sorry to tell you that these arguments your using are just the same old tired sayings uneducated prots keep spewing. Frankly you’re the one trying to muddy the waters, but we have the filter that will always clear up the truth.

That was the biggest word salad I have ever seen with no actual substance. That's Catholisism for ya. Jesus created the Church, did he not? Scripture was given to us by God. The Romans decided which parts of the scripture were important enough to include, which needed changing to enrich them and give them power, against the word of God. Why does the Church ask for donations? Why do Catholic priests and popes wear expensive gold and jewelry when it is against scripture? Why do they take from their loyal servants instead of giving? Why do they change the word of God to fit their narrative? Why do they give the pope so much power a if he is God? "Oh how do we change or go against scripture?" You say? Fine, I will quote scripture for you: 1\. Praying to Mary and the Saints The Bible teaches that prayer should be directed to God alone. 1 Timothy 2:5 (KJV): "For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus." Catholics pray to Mary and the saints as intercessors, but Jesus taught that He alone is the way to the Father (John 14:6). 2\. Calling Priests 'Father' Matthew 23:9 (KJV): "And call no man your father upon the earth: for one is your Father, which is in heaven." Catholic priests are often called "Father," despite Jesus’ instruction. 3\. Confession to Priests Instead of Directly to God The Bible teaches that only God forgives sins. 1 John 1:9 (KJV): "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." Catholics confess to priests, but Jesus never commanded this practice. 4\. The Worship of Images and Statues Exodus 20:4-5 (KJV) (The Second Commandment): "Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image... Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them." Catholic churches have statues of Mary, saints, and even Jesus, and some believers bow before them. While Catholics argue they don’t "worship" these images, many believe this practice violates God's command against idolatry. 5\. The Pope as Christ’s Representative on Earth Catholics believe the Pope is the Vicar of Christ, meaning he represents Christ on earth. However, the Bible teaches that Jesus is the only head of the Church. Colossians 1:18 (KJV): "And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence." 6\. Purgatory – A Place of Cleansing After Death The Bible teaches that salvation is through faith in Christ alone (Ephesians 2:8-9), and that believers immediately go to be with the Lord after death. Luke 23:43 (KJV): "And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, To day shalt thou be with me in paradise." The Catholic idea of purgatory is not found anywhere in Scripture. 7\. The Eucharist (Transubstantiation) Catholics believe the bread and wine literally become Jesus’ body and blood. However, Jesus often spoke in metaphors, and He Himself said: John 6:63 (KJV): "It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life." Many believe Jesus was not speaking literally about eating His flesh but was using symbolism. 8\. Salvation by Works Instead of Faith Alone The Bible teaches that salvation comes by faith alone, not by works. Ephesians 2:8-9 (KJV): "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast." Catholicism teaches that faith plus sacraments, good works, and church membership are required for salvation, which contradicts the Bible. Repent brother, before it is too late, for I wish for your salvation as much as my own. I do not say these things with pride or ill intent. I want you to wake up and see the veil of lies that has been put before you. You are part of a cult that drains you slowly, monetarily and spiritually. Serve only THE father, come to Jesus Christ and his true teachings. For man cannot change the word of God, that is a Sin in it of itself. God bless.

Well I’m not a theologian I work for a living so I can’t have a much time to go over your heretical nonsense and make a beautiful response to it. I don’t see the point in arguing scripture with you as you demonstrated you have little to no understanding of the early councils which were responsible for the canon of scripture. Instead you just choose to make stuff up, and that leads me to believe you’ll just make up interpretations is scriptural verses

Oh so I'm the one making stuff up when I quote scripture. You say that with a straight face then call me the heretic. What a joke. Just say you have no argument or response. We all work for a living. Some of us have the spine to admit when we are wrong. Others hide under word salads that mean nothing out of pride because they can't admit they are wrong or have been tricked. Funny how you all catholics run away as soon as I quote scripture. Because you have no comeback for it. So you rather run and hide in your own little bubble/echo chamber. You don't love God or Jesus. You only love yourselves and The pope/Church. That was my whole point. Thanks for proving it on this conversation. I am glad SOJ does not allow for comments to be deleted.

No I said your interpretation of scripture is what will be wrong, not the scripture itself. just as Satan use the psalms out of context to temp Jesus , you Protestants are constantly doing the same with scripture. I can go back and forth with you on scripture, and I’m sure you know what you believe scripture says, but the issue is I think that’s all you know. All I think you know is a false interpretation of the scripture. You have already demonstrated that you do not know anything other than that as you repeatedly bear false witness against Catholics. I can scroll up and see your point about the Eucharist and how you believe it is a metaphor , well, you just proved you are a heretic. Saint Ignatius, who was a disciple of the apostle. John clearly states that it is not a symbol. And speaks for the real presence of our Lord in the Eucharist. I don’t need much, and don’t even need to go into scripture to prove you wrong, because you have no bearing on church history or the early councils that declare your views heretical.

Have you read any books on comparative religion? If not, you should. Being a devotee to one specific faith tradition is silly once you realize they're all saying the same thing.

Don't get caught up in labels. Seek God for yourself and ask the Spirit for guidance and discernment. Christianity is a relationship, not a religion.

Jesus never claimed to be of Catholicism, he lived on the words of God. To God be all glory and praise. Genesis 1:1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Psalm 145:18 The Lord is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth. Matthew 19:28 Jesus said to them, “Truly I tell you, at the renewal of all things, when the Son of Man sits on his glorious throne, you who have followed me will also sit on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel. John 20:17 Jesus said, “Do not hold on to me, for I have not yet ascended to the Father. Go instead to my brothers and tell them, ‘I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.’”

Are you Okinawan? I spent 2+ yrs there in the early 70's as an Army brat. Met my half Okinawan husband there. (We were 12 and didn't reunite until 40 yrs later. We were married within 3 months. Just had 12th anniversary. Okinawa is where our hearts are. We still have family and friends there. He went back in the mid 80s to visit. It is #1 on my bucket list for travel. BTW, I am a lifelong Methodist who became a pastor just in time for my churches ( I was pastoring 3 at the time) to disaffiliate from the United Methodist Church. Now, due to health and other issues, I pastor parttime and sing in my home church choir in between. I am a Bible believing Christian and have been all my life except for a couple extremely rebellious, wild teen year! I have seen many miracles and know that God never leaves nor forsakes us. Breast cancer (they say from Agent Orange on Okinawa) survivor. Lots of miracles there! May I say, trust NO MAN! EVEN yourself! Proverbs 3:5-6 King James Version 5 Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. 6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. Ask the Holy Spirit to lead you to the truth of the Word. Religions and denominations are created by fallible men. When it boils down to it, all that matters is to seek 1st, the Kingdom of God. If you serve Jesus as Lord and have surrendered to His authority, He will direct you. All else is gravy. Looking forward to being here. My first entry into soj.oo0!
